The Nantucket Maria Mitchell Association (MMA), a science and history based education and research institution is offering a part-time position as Museum Shop Manager. Specific duties will include:
- Handling and purchasing, inventory management and retail at the MMA Museum Shop
- Developing marketing plans to promote the shop and increase foot traffic
- Develop product themes and purchasing guidelines that support the MMA mission
- Maintain the Museum Shop as a clean, attractive and organized space
- Training summer staff in selling techniques relative to the programs and exhibits
Position requirements:
- Previous sales experience
- interest in the natural world
- Excellent rapport with children and families
- Experience managing museum shops with a focus on educational merchandise
- Marketing and promotion of a non-profit
Position available immediately; part-time January-April, full-time mid-May to mid-September, part-time October-December.
