Nantucket Birdathon
Do you enjoy birding? Do you enjoy a little friendly competition? How about supporting a good cause? If you answered yes to any or all of those questions, please consider taking part in our annual Birdathon. 2010 is the 9th Annual Nantucket Birdathon sponsored by the Maria Mitchell Association.
The 2010 Maria Mitchell Association Nantucket Birdathon will take place during the 24-hour period from 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 15 until 5:00 pm on Sunday, May 16 2010. Each team will identify as many birds as they can by scouring the hills and hummocks, ponds and plains of Nantucket and surrounding waters out to 10 miles.
All are welcome and encouraged to participate- experienced birders and newcomers alike!
All donations to the 9th Annual Maria Mitchell Association Birdathon will support MMA’s Mission in conservation, research and education, and particularly the Edith F. Andrews Bird Research Collections that Edith has built almost single handedly over the years. We hope to raise $12,500 with this fund-raising effort, as half of the original goal of $25,000 has already been raised!
